Incredible. I did my first 21 day water fast this Jan after years of 21 day Daniel fasting (finally broke through the fear of a no food lengthy fast)- at 56. This book makes me excited to stretch further to join in what God is doing.

I loved this book. I was provoking and inspiring. Prior to reading the book I'd already felt called to do another 40 day fast but had planned to do a juice fast as I'd done on prior occasions over the years. The first day of the fast I juiced and was not able to drink the juice and knew I was to do just water which is the context of The Jesus Fast. This book as well as the devotional Lou recommends "Consumed" were instrumental in helping me stay focused on the prayer goals of the fast. I appreciated Lou's transparency regarding his own journey in various fastings; it helps to know that someone as seasoned as Lou still has struggles as well. I was inspired by Lou's testimonies of prayer assignments and breakthroughs that came during and after his own fast(s). Existing on water and prayer for 40 days was difficult enough in 2016 with air conditioning and a comfortable bed to rest in when I grew weak and tired. I can't even begin to imagine what Jesus endured in the desert with no air conditioning and no comfortable amenities. All of the discomfort and sacrifice was worth it because during the last week of the fast tremendous breakthrough came regarding a family issue that had been at a stalemate for a long time. it was one of the prayer goals of the fast and the breakthrough was sudden and concise and has continued to bear the fruit of reconciliation.
Lou's tenacity for revival and the presence of God is infectious. The Jesus Fast not only inspires you, the revelation of scripture is powerful. Get it! Prayer and fasting has always been the missing jewel in the church. If you're praying for revival, GET IT. If not, GET IT--and you will be.
Life changing! I ready this while doing a 40 day fast and all I can say is it spoke to me on every page, every level. They break through religion and tap straight into the spirit realm of your very being. Not many books that I really read twice. The first time I read it, the second time I and studying it. Thank you from hearing from God.
