Excellent book. Wong is one of my favorite authors and I love hearing about his experiences and ideas on the game. While this book is a few decades old, it's still very useful to today's counter/blackjack player, and a very pleasant read. A must read for anyone interested in the game of blackjack, this book is one of the classics. If you haven't already, I'd recommend following this book up with Wong's "Blackjack Secrets" another great read.

Indeed a classic. However I would say that at least 60-80% of the book needs to be updated to fit the contemporary BJ world. To be honest, I only find less than twenty pages of the book to be helpful to grow my card counting skills.

Professional Blackjack by Stanford Wong is one of the best blackjack books ever written with a great explanation and charts for both the most widely used counting system in the world in Hi-Lo and probably the most powerful or very close to the most powerful systems ever devised in the halves count, a must have for any serious player for sure.

"Stanford Wong" is one of the greatest authors on the subject. Reading this book is much easier with background knowledge first. A complete beginner could learn from this book. However, this is a more advanced guide in my view. If you use high low you should read this book at least 3 times.

If you want to learn how the MIT students took Vegas for millions, then this is your book. It explains the math and theory behind what they did which is both interesting and useful if you want to try it yourself.

I'm a Google qualified AdWords professional who did the training at Google's Sydney office and who works as SEO/SEM but this book is so detailed and interesting that I finished reading it in two days. I couldn't stop reading because there was always something new, something interesting in the following chapter.I describes the many CTR and QS values and how these affect the averaged, visible QS and what impact these values have on the campaign/ad group/ad and keyword level performance. Probably I have to read it a few more times in order to fully understand all the details and guidelines but it is worth reading.It isn't cheap but it's a great investment if you work in the SEM industry and interested in improving your knowledge.The book is easy to read and understand if you know the basics and it isn't too long either, so you can read it quite quickly.

I was introduced to the book through a colleague at work who had attended one of Craig Danuloff's speaking sessions at one of the internet marketing conferences. As a pay-per-click (PPC) manager, I understood the fundamentals in campaign structuring, bidding strategies, etc., but found the author's insight into how Google Adword's Quality Score fascinating. In the book, Craig reintroduces several points that would prompt any seasoned PPC advertiser to take pause and re-evaluate their campaigns.The information in the book was well articulated with great analogies to present what might otherwise be complicated, almost abstract concepts into simple terms. I especially liked how Craig presented some concrete, actionable items that any advertisers could utilize as part of a PPC "Health Checkup". The length allowed me to finish the book easily in a weekend while indexing pages and jotting down notes.In summary: for any Google Adwords PPC advertiser looking to delve into more advanced analytics to optimize their campaigns, this book comes highly recommended.

The book mentions one report which allows you to see which keywords /ad combo works best - that i found very useful, and to be honest i was expecting a lot more of this. But that was the only useful bit of info i got from the book, the rest of the book was how there is a QS for this and a QS for that and at the end of the day everything comes down to CTR.another section in the books asks you to contact the author for a free excel spreadsheet which i did twice and got no response.

The writing is extremely clear and interesting and I believe any SEM manager who takes themselves seriously should buy this book, read it, and then read it again. With its strong and personable writing, this book is a very quick read.

Hardly anything caught my attention.With this book although i got a new perspective on Google Adwords, now absolutely realizing that quality score is the one metric that makes or breaks profits. With easy step-by-step instructions and brilliant blueprints on how to analyze accounts it should be way easier to achive outstanding results, even with long-optimized accounts. Everything written in the book is based either on the official Google Adwords Help (which can be quite hard to dissect sometime!), when results are based on experiments this is clearly stated.After reading the book i feel the imminent urge to test even more and not to be satisfied with an account with less than 70% of QF7 keys!

Like the first book on the Rural Studio this edition does not disappoint.The Rural Studio builds homes for folks who cannot afford a traditional home. They utilize materials that are on hand and they get pretty creative. It's a good and inspiring read.

I know many of the educators and supporters mentioned in this book. This history fills in all the gaps. The photography is excellent. I think the book accurately describes the history and evolution of the Rural Studio and all the exceptional people who make it work.

You NEED this book!

I remember first hearing about Samuel mockbee unfortunately right after he passed away in my introduction to design course while an undergrad . The brief introduction about sambo and the work he created with rural studio left a lasting impression on me and I am thrilled , the program is still going strong . The book is a fantastic and is highly recommended!

About the Author

Jim Stone is an Associate Professor of Photography at the University of New Mexico. His photographs have been collected by the Museum of Modern Art and The Smithsonian American Art Museum, among many others. Books of his work include Stranger Than Fiction (Light Work, 1993),Historiostomy (Piltdown Press, 2001), and Why My Pictures are Good (Nazraeli Press, 2005).

He has also published six higher education titles that are widely used in university courses: A User¹s Guide to the View Camera, Darkroom Dynamics, Photography, Photography: The Essential Way, A Short Course in Photography, and A Short Course in Digital Photography.

 

Barbara London has authored and co-authored many photography books from their first editions to their current ones, including Photography, Photography: The Essential Way, A Short Course in Photography, A Short Course in Digital Photography, The Photograph Collector's Guide, and more.

John Upton, Professor Emeritus, was for many years Chair of Photography at Orange Coast College, one of the largest photography departments in the U.S. He has curated a number of exhibitions, including Color as Form: A History of Color Photography. His work is included in many private and public collections, including the New York Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art.
